The City’s Hearing Examiner, Andrew Kottkamp, has set the public hearing on Adventure Park for Tuesday, April 30th, 2019 starting at 8 AM. This hearing will be held at the Leavenworth Festhalle. The public comment period will be in the morning starting at approximately 10 AM. Speakers will be limited to 3 minutes each but you can submit written testimony at the hearing.
Please be aware that this is the only public hearing on the project. The decision maker is Andrew Kottkamp, not the City Council.
The hearing will be divided into two main parts– 1) the hearing on the appeal of the environmental assessment of the project (called the Mitigated Determination of Nonsignificance) and 2) the hearing on the two permits required for the project–the Conditional Use Permit and the Variance from side yard setbacks.
Friends of Leavenworth filed a formal appeal of the adequacy of the environment document and we have retained both an attorney and a traffic engineer to help us prepare for this hearing. The developers have the benefits of planners, traffic experts and attorneys to argue their side of the case.
Please go to the Issues Page of this website to look at an Information Sheet to help you prepare for this hearing.
The City’s staff has recommended approval of the project with some conditions. This staff report can be downloaded at the City of Leavenworth’s website.
This is our last and only chance to let the Hearing Examiner know that the majority of this community is opposed to the Adventure Park project at its proposed location at the corner of US2 and Icicle Road.
